The Adventure

The time had finally came my first annual camp. Annual camp is a week long camp that all the army cadets in W.A have to go to. It was the holidays In between term 3 and 4 and I was so nervous I was going on a camp for a week with a massive amount of people I don't know.

At least I had my friend Argyle with so I wasn't completely alone but still it was kind of scary. Eventually the day came that we were leaving. We had to meet at the army barracks. By this point I was no where near as nervous as I have found all the people that I knew and to make it even better I was in the same platoon as Argyle.

We were all sitting in our camp groups at the barracks waiting for the bus. We all got to know each other a bit more as we were the smallest group out of the whole cadets. After a 3 hour drive on the bus we finally arrive at Bindoon the sas training ground. We were waiting at our campsite for all the other cadets they eventually came after 2 hours.

After the first few days of sweating like you would never believe we realise there are no showers it was hell, but it was still awesome everyday it was something new at one point we were doing cam and concealment which is sort of like the army hide and seek on the 5 day we finally went back to our own unit and the cadet games begun.

The cadet games were a heap of different challenges the one that I took place in was the the skill at arms which was a 24hr challenge and was about team work and endurance. After a week I was finally ready to go home have a shower and sleep. The time came and next thing we know we are on the busses on our way home.

The Change

It was one of the most scariest things for me to this day. The first day at a new school, All new people, whole new school and it was my first catholic school. Up until year 6 I had been at a public school and to be honest I really liked it but I can't say the same for catholic schools.

Ok so it started about the 3rd day of year 6 I remember mum saying "Jake I have been looking at other schools and there is a really nice one just up the road" at this point I didn't think much of it and just pushed it to the side. That night at dinner mum and dad said that they would like me to move schools. So I said sure why not, I think that was one of the most stupid decisions I have ever made.

Ok so the time came my first day and was I nervous, I remember it was a Wednesday and I was just thinking I'm just gonna walk in and sit down you know nothing big but on Wednesdays they had mass, remembering that I have never been to a catholic school of even a church before. So I had no idea what I was doing. Finally it was over after 40 minutes of not know what the hell I was doing it was over.

When we all get back to the class room I get given a seat at a table, I swear that every single eyeball was staring at me. Eventually it was recess then lunch but finally after that whole ordeal the day was finally over and I was heading home. Just to start it all over again the next day.

The Christmas holidays

Over the recent holidays my mum and sister decided to take my grandma to England to meet all of her relatives that nan has never seen before. They also thought that while they are in England they might as well go for a tour all around Europe. While all this seemed very amusing to them it did not really appeal for my dad and I.

So when they asked us if we wanted to go with them we said sorry but no. We had plans of our own we thought that we might go for a trip up north. So the time finally came and my dad and I drove my mum, sister and grandma to the Perth international airport to say our goodbyes.

When my dad and I finally got home we decided that we may as well start to pack for our trip. When we had finally worked out where we were going to go and what stuff we needed we shot off on an fishing adventure. Our first stop was at my uncles shack at wedge which is just north of lancilen we only stayed there one night as we wanted to get to wago as soon as possible.

So eventually we left wedge and drove all the way to Northampton which was a six hour drive but really it felt like eight once we got to Northampton we meet up with one of my dads workmates ( Mark ). So when we got to wago we drove all the way along the beach we passed lucky bay and soon after that we passed the lagoon. We got out to have a look around, we found a really good camping spot just behind the dune or so we thought. About half an hour after setting up our campsite we saw a heap of sand start to fly of of the dune and towards the sea at first we thought that it was a bit weird but then out of nowhere a massive sand storm took us by surprise and we found ourselves trying to hold up our awning with sand just blasting our skin, honestly it felt like a million needles hitting you at once and if we didn't think that was enough out of nowhere a massive storm picked up and the rain was pelting in almost horizontal and to be honest I thought it was worse then the sand. Finally about twenty minutes later everything stops and it is all calm so we start to fix most things that were damaged in that twenty minutes of absolute horror.

We then decide to walk down the the beach and have a fish, by this time it was evening so it was almost perfect to go fishing well at least I thought. It was absolutely terrible we did not catch one fish. So we then decide to go back to camp, have our dinner and go to bed. The next morning was exactly the same thing no fish what so ever it was one of the biggest disappointments. Around ten o'clock things really started to heat up with that killer sun so we decided to drive all the way to lucky bay which was and a amazing beach protect by a line of reef. We did the same thing for five days and still no fish. Then came the time when we had to pack up and leave. We said our goodbyes to mark and we headed further up north to Coral bay which was a long eight hour drive.

We finally reach Coral bay which was my favourite place out of all the places we stayed. Soon after arriving we set up all our stuff and headed for the beach. We were in Coral bay for ages we even spent New Years there. Two days after new year we went on my first fishing charter and it was one of the best things I have ever done apart from going to the fishing spot and coming back, it took so long. When we finally arrived the skipper came out and said drop the lines, so we all did and guess what... I was first to get a fish on deck, I'll never forget it, it was a Goldband snapper. After a long day fishing we finally decide to head back. We get back at about 5 and head to the shelter to collect the fish we caught.

The next morning we woke up early and set of on a 8hr drive to Karatha. We finally get there, it is stinking hot like you would not believe. While we were in Karatha we caught up and stayed at my dads friends house. He took us mud crabbing and fishing. We stayed there for 4 days after that we decide that we wanted to go the home. So we set off at 7 and finally got home at 11 at night, and that was my Christmas holiday.
